How An OnlyFans Job Hooked A Young Man
Shortly before the 2020 pandemic, when I was around 24, I took a job working with OnlyFans, but not as a creator. I lived in the Philippines and actually worked remotely for an agency in Dubai supporting OnlyFans.
My role was on the messaging side. I managed conversations with subscribers “fans” using a chatbot-assisted system and manual interactions. Like many, I was initially attracted by the financial opportunity. The salary was good and there were commissions based on sales, so it seemed like a great way to earn money at the time.
The agency was transparent about the nature of the work. They explained that my responsibility was to build conversations that would encourage subscribers to purchase more content.
I knew exactly what I was signing up for. My role was to provide a “Girlfriend Experience” for the customers.
At first, my work felt exciting, because I had access to exclusive content. And the work was different from anything I’d done before. But over time, I started feeling the emotional and psychological cost of working in that environment.

1. You’re almost always talking to a chatbot, not the actual OnlyFans model.
From my experience, fans are not aware that they’re actually talking to a chatbot, because the bot and myself as a chatbot proxy knew every detail of the model’s personal life. OnlyFans feeds this chatbot a lot of possible questions and answers that lead the user to buy the content.
The chatbot handler/proxy gets a daily update from the model like what she's doing that day, and personal information like her pets, hobbies, etc.
And if an OnlyFans model is going to post on her Instagram, the chatbot handler knows, and her Instagram activities are synced and shared with the content buyers. It’s all part of their marketing strategy.
Bottom line? Unless you’re paying top dollar on OnlyFans, you never actually talk to the real OnlyFans model.
2. OnlyFans is designed to keep you hooked, buying more and more content.
OnlyFans aim was to keep the clients hooked, so that they would seek out more and more adult content until they bleed dry. What made the OnlyFans chatbots effective is that there’s no emotions attached to them, so they brazenly lie. And they don’t need to pause for sleep!
These chatbots also adjust based on the models’ timezones. I knew many OnlyFans models from Florida, Los Angeles, and even Brazil. Every detail of the “Girlfriend Experience” is designed to fool people.
3. The OnlyFans business model is designed to make fools of men. They help models pretend they care about you by training chatbot handlers to give the “Girlfriend Experience.”
Some clients (thinking I was the model) even told me they were using OnlyFans because no girls would talk to them.
As a chatbot handler, it was my role to lead fans to believe that the models are actually in love with them as part of the “Girlfriend Experience.”
So I tricked fans into thinking that the OnlyFans model accepts them for who they are. Most of the people who go to those platforms need validation and love which they did not get in the real world. That’s the part of the job that actually started to really bother me over time.
What Made Me Leave My Role at OnlyFans
My work at OnlyFans began taking a toll on me, draining me physically, spiritually, and emotionally. I felt emotionally unstable. Even the way I talked changed, because I talked dirty most of the time.
I couldn’t ignore the harm I was doing as I saw the fans becoming very dependent on the models. I could see they were addicted, because the adult content kept feeding their fantasies.
At one point, I was anxiously working to calm a fan who wanted to commit suicide, because the OnlyFans model didn't want to engage with him anymore, as he didn't have any more money to buy the adult content that the model made.
We did calm him down. But some fans even sell their car, or they drown themselves with credit debt to pay for the OnlyFans model fake Girlfriend Experience.
I began to wonder,“What have I done to these people who I gave the “Girlfriend Experience” for OnlyFans?”
Every day I felt like I was looting and stealing from someone, because the fans shared with me that they were drowning in debt. Or, that they just got paid and then spent all their pay in one day on an OnlyFans’ model.
My girlfriend saw this happening to me, too. She actually gave me an ultimatum that I had to quit working at OnlyFans. So I quit, and life became brighter again.

I want anyone thinking about working for OnlyFans to think about how this will harm you and others. The long term effects, once your adult video content is now on the internet, is that it will never be deleted. It’s almost impossible to get rid of it!
And playing with other peoples’ feelings will take a long toll over time. And who knows? Maybe you’ll meet that person accidentally. Maybe you will be approached, or even worse, attacked, because you were playing with their feelings and destroying their lives.

I want you to know that a career at OnlyFans will hurt you and others.
- Think beyond short-term financial rewards. (your OnlyFans images online forever…)
- Think about the emotional impact that lasts from relationships that are not genuine.
- Remember every OnlyFans interaction involves real people.
Life and Hope After Working At OnlyFans
Today I feel very light. I'm not overthinking anymore. I'm not wondering, What happened to that guy who ran up all his credit cards or spent his whole paycheck in one day?
Today I’m working on a team encouraging people to avoid sexual content. Now I’m fighting back on the good side! I feel like I can undo some of the harm this way.
